CU Growth & Innovation Summit Welcomes Fred Campobasso to 2027 Keynote Panel

Fred Campobasso, Chief Lending Officer at Great Lakes Credit Union, joins the CU Growth & Innovation Summit as a keynote panelist discussing liquidity strategy and responsible loan growth.

For credit unions, pursuing loan growth requires careful decisions about liquidity, capital, and risk. Fred Campobasso, Chief Lending Officer at Great Lakes Credit Union, will bring more than two decades of credit union experience to that conversation as a keynote panelist at the CU Growth & Innovation Summit.

As Chief Lending Officer at Great Lakes Credit Union, Fred is responsible for commercial, consumer, and mortgage lending, as well as collections. His broad lending responsibilities give him a valuable perspective on how credit unions can pursue growth while maintaining a responsible approach to balance sheet management.

The CU Growth & Innovation Summit is pleased to welcome Fred as a panelist for “Keynote Panel Discussion: Liquidity Strategy in 2027: Using Loan Participation to Unlock Growth.”

The session will explore how credit unions are managing liquidity while continuing to grow their loan portfolios. Fred and his fellow panelists will discuss loan participation, balance sheet strategy, and capital allocation, giving attendees a practical framework for supporting growth without overextending risk.

Fred’s perspective extends beyond lending performance. He is an advocate for helping low and moderate income households improve their financial well-being through financial literacy and access to credit at fair and reasonable terms. His work reflects a broader commitment to using responsible lending as a way to help individuals and families build generational wealth.

Fred also serves on the Board of Member Student Lending and as an Advisory Board member of TruTreasury. He supports the Great Lakes Credit Union Foundation for Financial Empowerment and its programs, including financial education and literacy initiatives, veterans services, and community food and toy drives.

He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Eastern Illinois University and a Master’s Certificate in Strategy and Execution from Lake Forest Graduate School of Management.

As credit unions consider how to balance liquidity needs with lending opportunities in 2027, Fred’s combination of lending leadership, industry experience, and commitment to responsible access to credit will add an important perspective to the conversation.
